May 2-4, 2015
The Republic of Djibouti
Industry & Technology At a Crossroads
The 2015 ERO Summit challenges public & private sector leaders to propose impactful and profitable solutions to aspects of the biggest environmental and economic challenges facing East Africa and Arabia today.
Mixed public-private-multilateral panels address the meaning of environmental risk and ‘resilience’ in a business context, current and future trends in renewable energy, the future of waste transformation and clean tech, and optimal management of coastal ecosystems, fisheries and scarce water resources. Workshops focus on creating an optimal regulatory environment for renewable energy, best practices in environmental legislation, tools in risk finance/ project financing, and scenario planning. The event is a rich networking forum for the private sector, regional government leadership and Africa-focused funds and 'deep subject experts'.
Participants will have the opportunity to participate in the design of a series of environmental initiatives with deep regional relevance, including a promotion board for environmental and clean-tech, an East Africa Climate Impact Assessment Taskforce (EACIAT), a regional environmental observatory, and a regional environmental dispute mediation facility, and a pandemic alert protocol.
The Summit is hosted by the Government of Djibouti, the Djibouti Ministry of Higher Education and CERD, and is organized by Perim Associates, with content partners Yale University Climate & Energy Institute, IRD (French Development Agency), the World Bank, the African Federation for Emergency Medicine, UCSF Global Health, the Corporate Council on Africa and a host of corporate entities.
